About us
Plant Survival Review exists because buying a plant care app is oddly hard to research. Sales pages promise everything, app store ratings are noisy, and most "reviews" are rewritten feature lists from people who never opened the product. We do the boring version instead: sign up, use the thing on real plants for a couple of weeks, and report what happened.
We are houseplant keepers, not botanists. Between us we have killed a fair number of pothos, ferns and one very expensive fiddle leaf fig, which is exactly the perspective most plant care apps are actually built for. When we test something, we test it the way a beginner would use it — on a plant that is already in trouble, at the point where they are close to giving up.
Every review starts with a paid or trial account and real plants. We do not write reviews from a sales page alone.
If a plant library is thin or a feature is simpler than the marketing suggests, we say so. A review with no criticism is an advert.
We are not affiliated with Gardening For My Future. Nobody pays us for a positive score, and no company sees a review before it is published.
Every product gets rated out of five across the same five criteria, and the headline score is the average. We weight practical outcomes over feature counts — a tool with three features that keep plants alive beats one with twenty that nobody opens twice.
Ease of use — can a total beginner get an answer in under a minute?
Usefulness of advice — does it end with a clear action, or more research?
Depth — how much does it cover, and what is missing?
Value for money — is the price fair against free alternatives?
Risk — trial length, refund policy, and how easy cancelling is
